Thank you Gail,
You have inspired me to write another post about page rank. I set up a autoresponder series (and continue to add to it) that has additional SEO, page rank and Using Social Media to drive traffic to your web site and other internet marketing and social media tips. (email sign up box for this series)
Thank you again. I am a perpetual student at my local college taking SEO, web analytics, Blogs, SQL server, internet marketing and all the digital media classes online.
If I have not already, I will be installing a do follow plug in for this blog so each commenter will get a little link juice.

I only know how to increase alexa rank. My PR is still low. Only a PR 2 site, but my blog traffic is good enought to keep me motivated to write new post regularly. I already knew these great tips, but didn’t really implement them. I should take action now
thank you for the reminder!

Clay, very useful no-nonsense or fillers post.
Question though: why do you promote “no-follow” tag? There are obviously pros and cons to it. Pros: it encourages more comments, cons: it can potentially leak the juice from your page. What are your reasons?
BTW, Wordpress automatically uses “nofollow” tags.

Hi Ana, Thanks for stopping by.
Page Rank is a good topic for discussion.
I like to use no follow tags on advertisements and links to resources included in blog posts that I do not want to pass page rank to. Google does follow no follow tags, it is just that we are telling google not to pass page rang to the link.
The “nofollow” actually means “don’t pass PageRank” to the page this link references yet it does not always work like that according to Jerry West. I also like to add no follow tags to the About, Contact Us, Privacy Statement, Terms of Use, pages, and I learned this from Jerry West.
Another interesting topic to discuss is site maps. Guess it is time to write up an article on site maps for SEO.

I still think that people pay to much attention to their PR of their site. I think, but not sure, Google only updates the PR, the one we see on the tool bar, every six monthes or something.
I do have a question about ranking though. In my webmaster tools, it says I am rank 6 for a keyword I am trying to rank for, but when I do an actual search, I am ranked like 20.
Does anyone know why the difference?
Great blog by the way, lots of useful information here to read.
