Password Management to Save Time and Frustration

Last year I was going crazy trying to remember passwords.  It was especially a problem since I was logging into more than one computer.  I was wasting a lot of time chasing passwords.  I did have a “address book” just for passwords and a 3 ring binder with confirmation emails with the passwords and log in id.

Here is a list of tips for passwords.

1. Set passwords that that are easy to remember like “Il2gcitm” “I love to get checks in the mail”
2. Buy a standard address book and use it just for passwords.
3. Just use 2 to 4 different passwords at a time assigned by category like banking, newsletters, web 2.0 sites
4. Use 8 characters minimum.  14 is not too many.
5. Use special characters when it is easy to remember.  Like “$” for “S” or “!” for “1″
6. Get a secure password management tool that automatically logs you into all of your password protected sites automatically.

Protecting your passwords is very important.  It is best if you remember your passwords and not write them down anywhere.  There is one company out there that offers a solution to password management that is used by just about every Business person I know in my field of new media marketing.  Once you have tried this software, you will never want go back to typing in passwords  at each site you visit.
